Sand-anthracite filter or dual media filter / multi-media filter is used to remove turbidity and suspended solids as low as 10-20 microns. These dual media filters offer highly efficient particle removal even in high filtration rates. Inside the sand-anthracite filter is a layered bed of filter media. The bed is graded from bottom to top. Grading the filter media this way ensures the sand anthracite filters to run for long durations before a backwash is needed. A sand anthracite filter or multi-media filter consists of two parts: Composite pressure vessel with multiport valve, and graded beds of sand and anthracite. Inside the system, dual media filter is fitted with an inlet distributor and a bottom colleting system. Outside, the system is fitted with frontal pipe and isolation valves. Sand is used to remove suspended particles and anthracite is used to remove odor and color, to make the water fit for various uses. Gravels and pebbles are used to support both the media. Periodically, sand-anthracite filter will backwash, which changes water flow through sand-anthracite filter.
The presence of iron is probably a most common water problem faced by various industries. Small traces of iron can be found in water because of large amount of iron present in the soil and because corrosive water will pick up iron from pipes. WATERTEC offers Iron Removal Filters that are designed with mild steel welded pressure vessel fitted with M.S. Control Pipe and C.I. diaphragm valve, strainers, sampling cock, pressure gauge, air compressor and first charge filter media. These filters are efficient and reliable. A Mixed Bed Unit is used to treat contaminated condensate. In Mixed Bed Unit, cation and anion resin beads are mixed together. It is, therefore, equivalent to a number of two-step demineralizers in series. In a mixed-bed demineralizer, impurities are replaced by hydrogen and hydroxyl ions, and water that is produced is very pure. The conductivity of this water can be less than 0.06 micromhos per centimeter. Mixed Bed Unit is a MSRL vertical pressure vessel fitted internally with top distributor, bottom and middle collecting system. Outside, it is fitted with frontal pipe work and control valves.

Manufactured from high-grade mild steel / FRP closed vessel incorporating frontal piping fitted with valves, these pressure sand filters are known as Multi Grade Filters. These filters function under pressure as water passes through filters from different grade of filter media and unwanted impurities are blocked at filter bed. Back flushing arrangement is made with these filters which flush out deposited dirt and clean the filter bed.
